Inspirations

This weekend was a long coming....weekend full of inspiration. It started with a trip into Manchester city centre to visit the fabulous 'Magma' where I purchased the expensive (but well worth it) Lula magazine to get some much needed motivation. I was also very close to buying Oyster magazine, another favourite of mine. Fred Aldous (Art and Craft shop) was also on the agenda, where myself and my graphic design superwoman dreamt in spray paints and all things that resembled sketchbooks.
After our very 'arty' wander around the Northernquarter, we went to see the very anticipated, Shame, in the cosy and atmospheric cornerhouse cinema. Quite possibly the most awkwardest film I have ever been to see....well what can I say, it was a Steve Mcqueen film about a sex addict. All I have to say is that I am very glad I went to see it with the right person. Carey Mulligan was exquisite as per usual and Michael Fassbender gave a mesmerising performance. Definitely not for the soft hearted, expect uncomfortably long, sex scenes with a sad and shocking storyline...plus emotional music which makes your whole body tighten up and freeze from the reaction. Oh and don't even attempt to take in a rustling packet of crisps or sweets as the only sound which deemed acceptable was the occasional jaw drop, sobbing or the creak of the cinema doors where an old couple would leave to the sheer distress of the film.....almost in disgust.
buzz; a feeling of intense enthusiasm, excitement, or exhilaration: I got a terrific buzz from those Pacific sunsets.

Barrel Back to Nature

Here we have the final, still life image which I designed for V magazine.  My inspiration came from the word; 'balsamic' and the mood which I wished to portray was a warm, natural shoot with a sense for nostalgia. The key concept behind the photo shoot was the scene for an Italian wife of a vineyard owner . Although I found the still life task quite a challenge, I very much enjoyed it and was very pleased with my final outcome.
