New Years Eve

So this is the dress which I have decided on wearing for New Years Eve tonight. It is a navy, Ben Sherman dress in a silk fabric. At first I wasn't sure whether to wear it tonight or not but then I thought that if I can't wear it for a night like tonight then when else will I get chance? So here it is. I have paired it with some black marks and spencer heels, black stripe tights and gold jewellery. The nails need re-painting for later though or they may just ruin the outfit!

Have a fabulous night everyone and Happy New Year!!!

A true christmas gift

As I watched the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, starring the memorable Natasha Richardson who was one of my favourite actresses, Dennis Quaid and Lindsay Lohan, it was the perfect trip down memory lane. The film has the perfect soundtrack with classics such as 'There she goes' by the La's and 'Do you believe in magic' by The Lovin' spoonful. Definitely worth listening to! There are also a few pop culture references such as The Beatles, Abbey Road album cover, Steve McQueen and my personal favourite; the girls referring to Meredith as Cruella de Vil. The overall description of the film would be a fun and lighthearted family film which is slightly cheesy and dramatic but hey who doesn't love films such as?

I do have to say that the original 1961 version starring Hayley Mills has a bit more rawness to it which is what I like in a film and I certainly have a soft spot for old films especially ones which were produced for a very different generation (not mine unfortunately), one that wore poodle skirts, never heard of video games, and had to contact an operator to make a long-distance call.

If in a dilemma which version to go for, the original never fails....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Yesterday was the arrival of the boyfriend who has come to stay with my family in Cheshire near Manchester for Christmas. It was time for more sledging, therefore more bruises and I think we only lasted for about an hour, nevertheless was very fun and I will never get bored or grow old of sledging. We also took a cold and icy trip to the Trafford Centre where we did some last minute shopping and watched the film Tron in 3D which was surprisingly amazing. A few hours later and a few degrees colder we de-iced the car and then head for home to hibernate and had our first snowball drinks...courtesy of Dad.

I admit I am very obsessed with my cats and soon as mum showed me this tiny santa outfit, I just couldn't resist. I felt slightly mean but to be fair I gave them plenty of treats afterwards. I think she enjoyed it really? The same wouldn't be said for our other cat Shadow though. Now in true Christmas Eve spirit.....food, drink, good films and good company=perfect.

Happy Christmas Manchester

It was my last chance to catch a glimpse of the german, christmas markets in Albert Square in Manchester today. I think its the only time when ive seen so many wooly hats, trinkets,  and homemade jewellery in one wander. I have to admit I absolutely love the festive spirit of the quaint wooden stalls and they seem to become more excitable every year. Although -10 with numb toes, the atmosphere kept me happy and warm....well for atleast a few hours anyway. Until next years german markets, it was time for home where a nice mug of hot chocolate was waiting for me. I think I may be addicted to the stuff?

Birds in bleakness

Okay. So I have finally got the hang of this new blogging concept which I am finding rather enjoyable and quite addictive. I have been trying out some new styling shots with a few new outfits. This one is of a blouse from Dorothy Perkins believe or not which I hardly ever go into but on the numerous occasions which I have, a beautiful bargain has come my way.
Hope you like it.....

Sledging

Today was the perfect day for getting wet bums and bruised legs! Wrapped up in layers from head to toe, floral wellies and thick pink socks, I was ready to brave the snowy hills of Wilmslow with my trusty sledge. There was a unusually comforting feeling of the snow crisping under my footsteps..old memories perhaps? Today was the perfect way to spend some quality time with the family as the air was fresh, snow was glistening and the sun was out. However I might add that I was not expecting such speed on such a small hill.

Simplicity Dreaming

Just average me practicing some styling and photography shots.

Berry Chiffon

I thought I would test out my new shorts today which I am really loving for christmas. I'm wearing them with a cardigan from Zara and a woven top from Topshop, tights from Marks and Spencer and mirror necklace from a charity shop.

Home Sweet Home

Today was the definite start to christmas as the smell of home was in the Rochester air, as I dragged my awkwardly sized pink suitcase along the cobbled streets of Rochester with a gleaming smile on my face, home was becoming increasingly closer. I travelled from Euston station to arrive at Wilmslow, Cheshire at exactly 3.27. The perfect time for a catch up with the family and a hot choccie.

The month of festive fun begins.....

London Antics

This weekend I stayed in lovely London where I went to see the play 'Onassis', starring Robert Lindsay. Although very serious and quite ruthless at times, overall was very enjoyable and inspiring as the costumes were based on the sixties ( I would recommend seeing). Winter wonderland was also part of my agenda and just general festive fun.

Future Beauty

30 years of Japanese Fashion at the Barbican

The exhibition explores the unique sensibility of Japanese design, and its sense of beauty embodied in clothing. Japanese fashion made and huge impact on the world fashion scene in the late 20th century and designers such as Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto redefined the very basis of fashion. Their works are shown as well Junya Watanabe, Jun Takahashu and Matohu.

I would definitely recommend seeing this exhibition as it is absolutely exquisite!!
